Guidance Support Groups

*A Fun Place To Share & Learn*

Guidance groups are social skills related support groups for the further development of personal, social, and emotional skills.  Groups are grouped by grade and meet once per week during lunchtime or at the end of the school day.  Groups last for 6 to 8 weeks.  Their is a maximum allowance for the groups so they can function in a compfortable manner for all.

Students come to the guidance room with their lunch to participate in conversations related to a topic.  Videos or storybooks introduce a concept.  Role playing, art projects, journaling, and cooperative games reinforce the strategies discussed and modeled.  Group topics may change based on the population of the groups and topics of importance.

All groups allow for a comfortable setting to exchange feelings and thoughts while developing specific social and/or coping skills.

Students join a group based on teacher or family request.  A guardian must sign a group form allowing the child to participate.
