TRACK
T.R.A.C.K. Tolerance-Respect-Attitude-Cooperation-Kindness Character Education Program The TRACK program originated in 1999 to introduce various positive character traits to our students. The program evolves yearly with the different monthly themes which connect to the year's TRACK saying. This year our TRACK saying is... Yes We Can Change For The Better When T.R.A.C.K. Is Our Plan! Be The Change You Want To See With T.R.A.C.K. Monthly quotes introduce the character theme of each month. The school year begins with a TRACK Tally Rally initiating the earning of TRACK acts. Acts can be earned by any school citizen who demonstrates an appropriate on TRACK behavior. Any school citizen can also fill out an act as well. The acts are then tallied by class and posted on our blue track which surrounds the cafeteria walls. Our goal this year is 2000 TRACK acts! We will begin the tallying of TRACK acts with our annual TRACK Tally Rally on September 21st. This year's TRACK symbol that represents a TRACK act will be the recycle symbol. A different color will represent a different grade level in our school. The symbols will be displayed by grade level around our cafeteria walls this year! What's a TRACKer? Students in 4th grade are chosen by their class teacher to be the best role models of TRACK. These students are asked to paricipate in the peer modeling program called TRACKers. If they chose to participate, they will train in the skills of peer mediation and social problem solving. They will also visit our kindergarten, first, and second graders to share what TRACK really means. Students are also able to sign up to be a TRACKer, however, it is up to their 5th grade teachers whether they are to participate in all the school community activities through out the year. TRACKers will be meeting for 18 to 20 meetings after school on Thursdays 2:55-3:15. Forms will be sent home the first week of October! What's a TRACK Wall of Famer? Students who receive 3 school staff nominations (including the class teacher and lunch aide), will be photographed. The photo with the student's name and class is displayed on the Wall of Fame, which is in our main hall beside Mr. Penn's classroom beginning in January. The nominees are then announced to come to the office to receive a certificate and a "high 5" by Mrs. Martinez or Ms. Hozumi. Students are nominated based on consistent positive behaviors they demonstrate which relate to the traits of TRACK. Our Wall of Famers are role models for us all!
