Policy
The Policy Committee is a Standing Committee on the Leonia Board of Education. The Committee is tasked with identifying, evaluating, and monitoring Board policies related to Board of Education procedures and operations, bylaws, and any other policies that may need to be reviewed and approved by the Board of Education. When the need for a new or revised policy is recognized, the Committee meets with appropriate staff to develop a draft policy. After discussion occurs during a committee meeting, the Committee may present the proposed policy item to the Board for discussion and tentative action. The judgments and recommendations of the Committee are advisory in nature and shall be submitted to the full Board for any formal action to be taken. In addition, the Policy Committee reviews State Board regulations as they arise, as well as relevant enacted state and federal laws, and works with the superintendent to determine any policy or regulatory action that the Board should take.
